COURTENEY COX& DAVID ARQUETTE´S NEW MIRACLE
Courteney´s story of fertility
problems will be sadly familiar to many women with APS. It also gives hope to sufferers,
as diagnosis and treatment has improved the chances of a happy outcome for many.
After an arduous weekend labor
and just two days before her 40th birthday, Courteney Cox gave birth to a 7 and
1/2-pound baby girl, Coco Arquette, on Sunday, June 13.
"The baby is named after Coco
Chanel," says a friend of Courteney, exclusively to Star. "Courteney is absolutely
thrilled! She doesn´t stop staring at the baby. She considers it ´The Miracle Baby´
because of how hard it was to have her!" The Friends star and her husband of five
years, David Arquette, 32, tried to conceive for more than two years and suffered
several miscarriages before doctors discovered Courteney had a blood disorder called
Antiphospholipid Syndrome, or APS, that was preventing her from carrying a fetus
to term.
"David is ecstatic,"
Courteney´s friend says. "Totally bowled over and blown away! He and Courteney are
like two kids with a puppy. They both keep looking at the baby and saying, ´I can´t
believe we made her!´ All they do is smile from ear to ear since the baby was born."
But it wasn´t all smiles during the long labor,
which caused Courteney an unbelievable amount of pain. "David said that Courteney
was in so much pain and he hated seeing her like that. He said he felt helpless
because he couldn´t do anything to help her. David never left her side throughout
the labor. Courteney wanted him at her side, holding her hand."
